Found Dead in Bed - 7 Years Later
CJ May 14th, 2007
This is so sad.
A decomposed body of a man in Germany was found recently, and it was estimated that he had died of natural causes. He was found in an all but abandoned apartment building with few tenants left.
He had a pack of cigarettes, and open television guide and old coins prior to the use of the Euro. The man was apparantly unemployed at the time and no one reported him missing.
I was really hearbroken to read this. No family or friends and he died alone. Keep in touch with your family and friends!
Bullet Whacked
CJ May 14th, 2007
A teen in Lake Luzerne New York discovered that playing with live bullets and a hammer…might not be such a great idea!
Damion M. Mosher, 18, had been discharging .223-caliber rounds, placing them in a steel vise, putting a screwdriver on the primer, and striking the screwdriver with the hammer, deputies said.
In the process of trying to empy the casings to collect the brass from the shell, Damion managed to fire one round from his hundredth bullet strike into his abdomen. He was treated at the hospital and released.
Ok, so, what…brass is like $2.00 a pound or so? And you got shot for $6.25 worth? What a bargain!
Witch Burnings Still Happen
CJ May 6th, 2007
In Hyderabad, India, a couple was burned to death after the local villagers accused them of practicing black magic. They were tied to poles and burnt in a fire reminiscent of the witch burnings of the 1600’s.
Both were elderly, in their 60’s and 70’s and screamed for help as they were doused with kerosene and lit on fire.
According to the local police, witch burnings are a common practice. There are no trials or chances to redeem oneself - just execution.
You’d think in this day and age, ignorance and mass panic would be replaced with civility? Or am I just being too modern? Fight fire with pyre.
Tons of Guano - Free!
CJ May 6th, 2007
Bats in the attic can be commonplace, and this New York couple in Ballston Spa didn’t think much about it. Until they took a good look into their attic.
After reporting the incident to animal control, they were asked to wait since the babies were too young to fly. So they waited until January when a foul odor was so overwhelming, they investigated further.
What they discovered was a ton and a half of bat droppings (guano) inside their attic! It cost $25,000 to clean up the 3500 pounds of guano and to top it off, their insurance company won’t cover the cost.
Hey, why not sell it as an alternative fuel? If you can get past the smell that is…
Desperate Work Situations
CJ May 6th, 2007
You think your job sucks? Try working in Santiago Chile as a cashier at the Isabel Supermarket!
The employees there are not allowed to to take breaks - which includes bathroom breaks. The employees are forced to wear diapers in order to save their jobs. They use the diapers to relieve themselves in order to avoid being fired for leaving their cash registers to use the restroom.
A complaint has been filed with Chile’s labor organization. The union claims this is an isolated incident and not the norm.
I guess this included no eating or drinking either - what did they have to eliminate?
Teacher Makes Student Hit Self
CJ May 6th, 2007
When a student at Parkway School District hit the drums too hard in music class, teacher Paul Provencio forced the student to hit himself in the head with the drum mallets to teach him a lesson - twice.
After an investigation of the case which was brought about by the boy’s father, Provencio was forced to resign.
I guess the teacher figured it was wrong for him to strike the student, but OK for the student to strike himself. Teacher won’t be getting an apple this year - he should get a mallet instead!
